Lock and Sync

You can lock Ziply Device Password for extra security if you’ll be away from your device for a while. You can also sync all your devices to access your login credentials anytime, anywhere.

Step 1. Lock Ziply Password Manager

If you want to add an extra layer of security, you can lock Ziply Password Manager when you're not using it.

On your computer
  1. Open Ziply Password Manager on your desktop. If you are prompted to enter your master password, it is already locked.
  2. Select Lock in the left-hand side menu.
On your mobile device
  1. Tap the menu or "hamburger" icon and the arrowbox icon to lock.

To unlock Ziply Password Manager on any device, launch Ziply Password Manager and enter your master password.

Note: For security reasons, Ziply Password Manager does not have access to your master password. Only you know your master password, so keep it safe.

Ziply Password Manager has an auto-lock feature for additional security, and by default Ziply Password Manager locks itself after five minutes of inactivity. You can change the time interval when Ziply Password Manager automatically locks: 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 10 hours, and 1 week.

To set your preferred auto-lock interval on your desktop:

  1. Open Ziply Password Manager and enter your master password if prompted.
  2. Go to Settings in the left hand side menu.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Choose your preferred interval time in the first drop down menu titled Automatically lock after.

Step 2. Sync Ziply Password Manager

If you install Ziply Password Manager only on one mobile device, or only on your computer, your personal data is stored only on that one device. Syncing all your devices lets you access your stored, always up-to-date Ziply Password Manager data from your other devices. No matter which of your devices you're using, you can access your login credentials anytime, anywhere. Don't worry if a device gets lost, stolen or damaged. Your data is still intact on your other devices.

Important: If you install Ziply Password Manager only on your mobile device and need to do a factory reset, all your Ziply Password Manager data will be wiped from the device. There is no way to get the data back.

On your computer
  1. Launch Ziply Password Manager and enter your master password if prompted.
  2. Go to Connect Devices in the left-hand side menu.
  3. Under Generate synchronization code, a sync code appears.
  4. Now, grab the device you want to sync with:
    • If syncing to a mobile device, tap the menu icon, then Connect devices > Code; or
    • If syncing to another desktop computer, go to Connect devices > Enter synchronization code.
  5. Enter the sync code from step 3 where prompted.
  6. Tap or click the Connect button.
  7. Enter your master password.
  8. Once synchronization is successful, tap Confirm if syncing to a mobile, or click OK if syncing to a desktop.
On your mobile device
  1. On your mobile device, go to Connect devices, and the sync code automatically appears at the bottom of your screen.
  2. On the device you want to sync to, go to:
    • Connect devices > Code if syncing to a mobile; or,
    • Connect devices, and click Enter synchronization code if syncing to another desktop computer.
  3. Enter your sync code from step 2.
  4. Tap or click the Connect button
  5. Enter a master password.
Note: If you have different master passwords for Ziply Password Manager on your devices, then you’re prompted to enter the master password for your Premium device.
  6. Once synchronization is successful, tap Confirm if syncing to a mobile, or click OK if syncing to a desktop.

Note: On the device you're syncing from, the sync code changes every minute until you enter it in on the device you're syncing to. If the sync doesn't work, try again with another code.
