Yes, you will need a router to use your Ziply Fiber internet service. The great thing about our Ziply Fiber routers is that a modem is built-in, so you won’t need a separate modem device.
A standard router and a WiFi 6 router serve the same purpose – connecting you to the internet. The WiFi 6 router is compatible with the newest generation of WiFi (WiFi 6 802.11ax), which allows the router to securely communicate with a larger number of devices at one time without sacrificing performance. A standard router may become overwhelmed as more devices are added.
Yes, Ziply Fiber allows you to bring your own router if you would prefer. However, our Ziply Fiber router is optimized for our network and we do recommend it for the best fiber internet experience.
