Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t see self-installation as an option. How can I choose self-installation for my service?
Self-installation is only available at select locations. If your address is within one of these areas, you will be able to select the self-installation option at the installation step in our online cart.
Can I use my own WiFi router for self-installation?
Yes, you can use your own router. Our Ziply Fiber WiFi router is optimized for our network, but we’re all about choice and control.
How do I activate my internet service?
If you're eligible for self-installation, just sign up for Ziply Fiber service and set up your WiFi router. You’ll be able to connect to the internet in minutes.
What is an ONT and how is it different from my router?
The Optical Network Terminal (ONT) connects your home to our fiber network. If you are eligible for self-installation, you already have an ONT in your home. The ONT looks like a white box and is typically attached to the outside of the home or inside the garage.
A WiFi router connects your devices to the internet wirelessly. If you have a larger home, you may need WiFi extenders to eliminate dead zones and ensure consistent coverage.
