Router Firmware
If you use Ziply Fiber equipment (modem, router, gateway) your firmware is managed automatically by us. No need to download or monitor version updates. We handle everything for you.
For equipment not provided by Ziply Fiber, be sure it’s running the latest firmware for optimal performance and security. If you’re not sure whether your non-Ziply equipment needs updating, contact the manufacturer directly for support.
Apply the following recommendations to take advantage of fiber’s high speeds and reliability while using the internet on your computer.
Internet browsers
Regardless of your chosen operating system (Mac or PC), keeping your internet browser up to date ensures compatibility with evolving web technologies and security standards. Many browsers automatically update themselves. To check for updates, open the About page in your browser’s menu.
WiFi connections
To make the most of a fiber WiFi connection, your laptop or computer should have a dual-band WiFi adapter 2.4Ghz/5Ghz - 802.11ac/ax.
Wired connections
- Windows network adapters: For laptops or computers lacking a built-in Ethernet port, use a USB 3.0 to gigabit Ethernet adapter. These adapters leverage USB 3.0’s high data transfer rates to provide a reliable wired connection.
- Mac network adapters: For MacBooks or other models without an Ethernet port, a Thunderbolt to gigabit Ethernet adapter is recommended. These adapters offer high-speed data transfer and a stable connection.
