If you’re switching from Ziply Fiber's NVG578 to a non-Ziply router, follow these steps to activate bridge mode on the NVG578.
Why activate bridge mode?
Ziply Fiber’s NVG578 model combines both router and Optical Network Terminal (ONT) functionality. If changing to a non-Ziply router, you’ll still need the NVG578 to serve as your ONT. For Ziply Fiber's NVG578 to function as the ONT for your non-Ziply router, be sure the NVG578 remains powered on before and after completing the steps below.
Bridge Mode Steps
To activate bridge mode in your NVG578, make sure the device is powered on and follow these steps:
- On a device connected to your router's WiFi network, click this link to log in to the settings for your Ziply Fiber NVG578. If you haven't changed the router’s user name and password, you can usually find default login details on the router's label or in the manual.
- Once logged in, select Advanced on the main menu near the top of the screen.
- In the list of Advanced settings on the left, select Connection Settings.
- In the ISP Protocol drop-down menu, select Transparent Bridging.
- Click Apply.
- If you receive a prompt to reboot or restart your router, click the link provided to restart.
- In the list of Advanced settings on the left, select Broadband Settings.
- Change Wan type to GPON.
Your NVG578 should now be in bridge mode, and you can connect your non-Ziply router to the network.
