Do you love your internet speed? Like, really love it?
If it's streaming, gaming, creating content, working or doing a high-tech hobby like map generation or programming, we see you. We get it.
A lot of internet service providers don't offer a large array of speed tiers. With a cable plan, maybe you can get up to a gig of download speeds, but upload speeds lag in the distance.
Ziply Fiber is different. We offer up to 50 Gigs of symmetrical home internet speed. (That's 50,000 Mbps, in case you thought it was a typo.) Whether you need faster speeds or want them for bragging rights, it's easy to upgrade. Here's what you need to know.
Ziply Fiber's speed tiers
Our fiber internet plans start at 100/100 Mbps and go all the way up to 50 Gbps. While Fiber Gig is our most popular plan, 2 Gig is increasing in popularity as modern speed needs grow. Beyond that, we offer 5 Gig and 10 Gig plans for the tech ultra-aficionado. Our highest speed, 50 Gig, is essentially business level internet outfitted for residential use. Not too many people need such intense speeds, but for some, 50 Gigs is irresistibly exciting.
The important thing to know about our speeds is that they are all symmetrical. Your upload speed will match, or be very close to, your download speed. This translates to smoother connectivity and less lag for every device in your home, from video conferences to high-definition streaming.
Simplicity is our middle name
At Ziply Fiber, we value simplicity. We believe the internet should be accessible and high-quality, even for — and especially for — people living outside of urban areas. Good internet technology can boost a town's economy and bring income opportunities to people outside of major metro areas.
Upgrading your speed is as easy as tapping a button on the Ziply Fiber app or clicking into My Account. Within a few hours, you can be cruising at 2 or 5 Gig speeds.
Equipment considerations
If you've got the idea to jump from 100/100 to 5 Gig this afternoon, make sure you have the right equipment first.
Increasing speeds up to 2 Gig should be doable without needing to replace your router or optical network terminal (ONT), unless they are on the path to retirement already. We'll be able to determine this for you.

If you have 2 Gig and want to jump to 5 Gig, you should also be fine without technical intervention. If your installation is new, then your ONT should support 5 Gig.
However, if you are moving up into the multi-gig realm (2 Gig and beyond) from 1 Gig or lower speeds, you may want to upgrade to a WiFi 7 router. This is the latest in router technology and features Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which utilizes three frequency bands rather than two. This helps beam your WiFi signal farther and with greater speed. Our WiFi 7 routers support up to 3.5 Gbps wireless, and up to 10 Gig wired, to match your fiber internet speed plan.
You will want to make sure your equipment can handle WiFi 7 technology — some devices are not enabled for it yet, and you don't want to find yourself stuck with ultra-fast internet and a laptop that doesn't connect to it.

Upgrading to 50 Gig speeds requires a more robust router. We recommend the Mikrotik router (model CCR2216-1G-12XS-2XQ).
Remember, WiFi will always decrease your speed. For speeds closest to what's provisioned (and sometimes even higher), you will want to connect via Ethernet.

The takeaway
Fiber Gig is our most popular speed tier, with enough speed to keep the entire household connected at the same time. For those of you who have internet-intensive jobs or hobbies, or who look at the internet like it's a sportscar, upgrading to multi-gig internet is relatively easy.
