Crews have been busy in Cottage Grove this year, and the payoff is here: A 100% fiber-optic network is now live across the city, with service already available to 2,300+ homes and businesses.
Cottage Grove has always known how to hold onto its identity. You can see it in the six covered bridges scattered around town, in the Row River Trail winding past the old rail line, in a Main Street that still looks like the historic district it is. But a small-town feel shouldn't mean small-town internet. A dedicated fiber-optic line to every address means a downtown shop can run its point-of-sale system without a hitch, a student can upload a project the night it's due instead of fighting a spinning wheel and a household streaming, gaming and working from home at the same time doesn't have to pick which one gets the bandwidth.

Cottage Grove joins a build list that now stretches across more than 200 communities, all riding on the same network that's the fastest in the country. Every market earns its spot for its own reasons. For Cottage Grove, it's a historic downtown drawing steady foot traffic, a manufacturing and timber base that's still very much active and a location just off I-5 that keeps the city connected to Eugene and the rest of the valley.

The city marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Fastest City Certification at the Cottage Grove Speedway on August 29th, with the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce helping bring the celebration together. Mayor Candice Solesbee was on hand to accept the certification on the city’s behalf.
