Kirkland, Washington (September 15, 2025)–America's Fastest Home Internet provider, Ziply® Fiber, announced today that it is building a new, ultra-high-speed, 100-percent fiber-optic network in Lewiston, Idaho. The company is finalizing its permits and build plan and expects to start construction within the next 90 days to homes and businesses around the city.

What Fiber Construction Looks Like

Ziply will bring fiber to homes and businesses in Lewiston in two primary methods—aerial and underground. The preferred method is aerial construction, where fiber lines are attached to the top of utility poles and then from a nearby pole to a home or building to connect the service. When fiber lines can't be attached to utility poles, Ziply will opt for underground installation, where fiber lines are placed in conduit that is buried underground.

Importantly for residents to know, installation—especially underground installation—may include work in the Public Utility Easement (PUE) or Right of Way (ROW) that exists on homeowners' properties. PUEs/ROWs give utility companies that oversee things like water, gas, power, sewer and internet—like Ziply Fiber—the right to access private property to install, maintain, and repair infrastructure like fiber-optic cables. Ziply Fiber will notify homeowners before going onto their property and workers are required to have proper company branding and identification.

Why Fiber Matters in Lewiston

The construction of this new fiber network is important because across much of the country, smaller and more rural communities like Lewiston often get overlooked by national internet service providers, many of whom focus on big cities and still rely on outdated cable or copper infrastructure, which were never designed to handle today's internet needs and speeds. With its true end-to-end fiber network, Ziply Fiber is ensuring local communities have the infrastructure critical to support the increasing demands of today and for many years to come.

"Bringing fiber to Lewiston is something we're really excited about," said Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. "As we expand, our goal is to make sure every household and business here has access to the same world-class internet as the largest cities, built for today and for the future."

What's Next in Lewiston?

Once permits are finalized, Lewiston should expect increased activity from Ziply in the coming weeks.

Lewiston residents should expect:
  • Ziply team members visiting homes, dropping off door-hangers with information on construction and service

With fiber being new to Lewiston, many residents may be unfamiliar with specifically what will be included with and available from Ziply Fiber as part of its various plans when service becomes available.

Ziply Fiber residential plans offer:
  • Symmetrical download/upload speeds, ensuring fast, reliable performance for streaming, online learning and more
  • Lower latency than cable, meaning a faster, more responsive connection for gaming, video calls and more
  • Speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 50 Gig, America's Fastest Home Internet
  • Great value starting at $20/month for entry-level Fiber 100/100 plan
  • New WiFi 7 routers for 1-10 Gig plans
  • No contracts
  • No data caps

  • No credit checks

Ziply Fiber believes that everyone should benefit from amazingly fast, game-changing internet, not just people in big cities. That's why the company has been investing hundreds of millions of dollars to build an advanced, 100-percent fiber network to underserved suburban and rural communities across the Northwest. Since June 2020, Ziply Fiber has built and/or is currently building fiber networks in more than 150 new fiber markets in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, connecting more people and more communities to fast, reliable internet every day.
