Set parental controls with Family Rules

Use these instructions to install Ziply Fiber SafeConnect on your child’s device and set up Family Rules to manage usage limits and content filtering.

Family Rules can only be modified through the app on a parent’s device or the Ziply Fiber SafeConnect portal.

Install Ziply Fiber SafeConnect on your child’s device

1. On your device, open the Ziply Fiber SafeConnect app.
2. In the main view, select People & Devices.
3. Select + Add device or user.
   Any child profiles you’ve previously added are listed here. To add a new child profile, select New child profile.
4. Select My child's device > Continue.
5. Select how you want to deliver the installation link to your child’s device and select Send link.
6. Open the message on your child's device and follow the instructions to install SafeConnect.
7. If you agree to the license terms, accept and continue.
8. When the installation is completed, confirm that you’re setting up protection for a child profile.
9. Follow the prompts to enter your child’s age group, set usage schedules and restrict access to content.

Manage daily time limits

On the Daily time limits page set the maximum number of hours a child is allowed to use the device.

• Separate sliders allow you to change time allowances for weekdays and weekends.
• To allow unlimited usage, drag the slider as far to the left as possible to set the hour allowance to Unlimited.

Manage bedtime / nightly usage

On the Bedtime page, turn on Bedtime to manage nighttime use of the device.

• To establish bedtimes for school nights, Sunday to Thursday, turn on the School nights setup. Then drag the slider  to indicate when bedtime starts and ends. 
• For weekends turn on the Weekend nights setup. Drag the slider to set when bedtime starts and ends on Friday and Saturday night.

Filter unwanted content

On the Content filtering page, turn on Content filtering to block web content you don't want your children to access.

• From the list of categories, select the web content you want to block. 
• Hover over any content category to display an explanation.
