The Palouse Ice Rink in Moscow, Idaho, is more than a place to ice skate.

The nonprofit has been going strong since 2002 with lessons for all ages, open skate sessions and hockey, broomball, curling, a "science on ice" program for students to learn about the laws of motion, and even summer camps and a roller hockey league in the summer when the ice rink goes dry.

Since 2022, when the community-centered institution established a permanent home, the Palouse Ice Rink (PIR) has been able to provide fast and reliable WiFi to its vendors and patrons, thanks to a partnership with Ziply Fiber.

"Ziply Fiber has been an essential part of enhancing the Palouse Ice Rink experience," Emma, a member of the PIR staff, shared. "Their fast and reliable internet gives our customers seamless access to the things they need, when they need them."

Thanks to the complimentary WiFi, the PIR can stream music throughout the rink, livestream all their events and enable guests to share content and connect inside the rink. It also empowers the staff to work efficiently.

"Since joining Ziply, we haven't experienced a single service drop, which has been a game-changer for our operations," Emma says.

The PIR hosts several recreational teams, including for women, college students, youth and a coed adult team. Ziply Fiber provides sponsored jerseys for the Emerald League beginning adult team.

"You know what they say—look good, play good," Emma says. "They also love wearing jerseys to support a business that has supported the ice rink. They are very proud to wear the Ziply jersey and brag about being a high-speed team."

Ziply Fiber Community Development Manager Nicole Barnett experienced the joy of ice skating at community rinks as a child in the Coeur d'Alene area and is proud to be able to give back through her work.

"I grew up having birthday parties at a local ice rink," Nicole says. "It warms my heart supporting the Palouse Ice Rink, which I know brings so many lovely memories to local kiddos and families."

PIR staff are grateful for the partnership, which allows them to prioritize fulfilling their mission as a community-driven nonprofit without diverting any of the budget away from operations.

"We're proud to partner with Ziply and do our best to support them in return," Emma says. "Their contribution to our rink goes far beyond connectivity; it helps us maintain a welcoming, enjoyable space for our community."
