Silverton becomes Oregon’s newest “Multi-Gig City” with fastest household internet in the Northwest thanks to launch of Ziply™ Fiber’s ultra-high-speed fiber-optic internet network

Residents now have immediate access to 5-gig, 2-gig and Gig-speed internet and phone services; specialized small business services also now available

Kirkland, Wash. (March 4, 2022) – Ziply™ Fiber announced today that its ultra-high-speed, 100-percent fiber-optic network is now ready for service in Silverton, Oregon, enabling its popular “Gig-speed,” or Gigabit fiber connectivity, and also its industry leading 5-gig and 2-gig residential services to more than 1,000 addresses throughout the city, with more on the way. Ziply Fiber’s launch of multi-gig services  makes Silverton one of the fastest cities in the nation when it comes to household internet speeds, on par with if not faster than most major metropolitan areas.

In total, more than 4,600 Silverton residences and businesses will have network access when Ziply Fiber’s network construction is complete. This build is one piece of how Ziply Fiber is bridging the digital divide that exists between large metro areas and many suburbs and rural communities.

"Fast, reliable internet is crucial for economic development in Silverton. Whether it’s access to Silver Falls State Park, the Oregon Garden, or the city's vibrant main street, Silverton is a unique place to work, live, or visit. Fiber-based internet will allow the small local stores, coffee shops, restaurants, theater, and businesses the ability to reach customers from all over the region and all over the world,” said Eli Heindricks, Rural Broadband Specialist, Marion County Community Services Department. “We've often heard from residents in Silverton about their community's lack of high-speed internet. As such, we are excited about this project and all the possibilities it offers to the city."

Ziply Fiber’s service launch comes at a time when more and more families and businesses are looking for fast and reliable internet to support the online needs of daily life in today’s world. And as always, there are no data caps or annual contracts required for residential users.

“Today, we light up the first portion of our fiber-optic internet network in Silverton, providing the fastest possible connectivity to hundreds of homes and businesses within the city,” said Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. “We’ve always said your Zip Code shouldn’t determine the quality of your internet and I believe the businesses and residents of Silverton will be amazed by what fiber connectivity can do for them.”

New and existing customers who wish to check their address for fiber availability, or who would like to sign-up to be alerted when fiber internet is available at their home or business, can register at https://ziplyfiber.com/Silverton. When fiber is shown as available at their address, Ziply’s existing DSL customers can upgrade by calling 1-866-699-4759.

Ziply Fiber’s goal is always to leave an area in a condition as good if not better than it was before construction began. If residents notice something has been missed, the company wants to know about it and asks that details be shared at https://ziplyfiber.com/constructioncleanup.

The work in Silverton is part of Ziply Fiber’s commitment to invest more than $500 million over the next two to three years to build an advanced, 100-percent fiber network to both suburban and rural communities across the Northwest that have been underserved when it comes to internet access. The company has been actively building fiber across the Northwest since June 2020 and has plans to build and deploy new fiber-optic cables, local hubs, new offices, and new hardware to run the network as part of hundreds of additional projects across its 250,000-square-mile footprint.

Ziply Fiber’s primary service offerings are Fiber Internet and phone for residential customers, Business Fiber Internet and Ziply Voice services for small businesses, and a variety of Internet, networking, and voice solutions for enterprise customers. The company will continue to support Ziply Internet (DSL) customers, and its TV customers in Washington and Oregon. A full listing of products and services can be found at ziplyfiber.com.

Ziply Fiber is local in the Northwest, headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, and has major offices in Everett, Washington; Beaverton, Oregon; and Hayden, Idaho. Most of Ziply Fiber’s executive team, which consists of former executives from AT&T, CenturyLink, and Wave Broadband, either grew up in the Northwest or have spent the better part of 30 years living here. That local ownership and market familiarity is an important part of the company mindset and culture.
