Ziply™ Fiber lights up gig-speed fiber internet in Coos Bay and North Bend, adds more availability in Coquille starting Feb 1
Ziply Fiber is the first provider to deliver true gig-speed fiber internet with no data caps throughout the region; nearly 5,500 households and businesses have access today
Kirkland, Wash. (Feb 1, 2021) – Ziply™ Fiber today announced that it had completed a critical phase of the fiber-optic network build-out in both Coos Bay and North Bend, Oregon, that will for the first time deliver gig-speed fiber internet and an all-new, state-of-the-art network to area residents and businesses, beginning Mon, Feb 1. Ziply Fiber launched its fiber internet service in Coquille in late 2020 and has continued its build-out in the area since then. Approximately 35 percent of the nearly 16,000 residential and business addresses within our service area throughout the three cities will be ready for fiber service immediately. The remainder is scheduled for completion early this year.
Those who wish to check their address for fiber availability or who would like to sign-up to be alerted when fiber internet is available at their home or business can register at get.ziplyfiber.com/coquille. Coos Bay, Coquille, and North Bend are among the first 13 Northwest cities that Ziply Fiber has invested in to improve internet connectivity on par with larger metropolitan areas throughout the nation. Residents and businesses will benefit from the significant upgrade of gig-speed fiber internet with no data caps provide when uploading and downloading content. The capacity fiber affords customers is critical in today’s online world to eliminate the hassles of slow and interrupted service such as streaming lag or dropped web conferences.
“These cities have been wonderful partners throughout the construction process. Thanks to their support, folks will now have access to the kind of reliable, blazingly-fast internet they want and deserve,” said Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. “Our fiber networks purpose-built for the internet, meaning residents and business can now tackle the online requirements of everyday life in our connected world. By future-proofing our network with these investments in fiber, we ensure Northwest cities like Coquille, North Bend, and Coos Bay are well-positioned to support the economic development of the years to come.”
“Expanding the availability of fiber throughout our city has been a top priority for our community. It is more important than ever to have reliable internet as thousands of families across our area work and go to school from home,” said Joe Benetti, Mayor of Coos Bay. “We are very excited about the progress Ziply Fiber has made in such a short time, and we believe our local businesses and families will see the profound benefits and an immediate economic impact of their investment in our region.”
The multi-million-dollar build-out began in June 2020 as part of Ziply Fiber’s $500 million investment in network improvements across its four-state territory. While work will continue over the next several weeks in a staggered rollout across much of the area, Ziply Fiber has already deployed hundreds of miles of new fiber-optic cables throughout the region. It will continue to build out more territory through completion.
As a Northwest-based company, Ziply Fiber is proud to invest in our local communities. The company believes that everyone – not just those who live in big cities – should have access to fast and reliable internet. While it will take time to upgrade 250,000 square miles of land throughout Ziply Fiber’s four-state footprint with new fiber-optic cables, local hubs, new offices, and immense amounts of new hardware to run the new network, the company is capitalized for and committed to hundreds of more projects in its service area.
As the company continues its rollout of fiber-based services across the region over the next several months and years, its DSL customers also will begin seeing service improvements. Part of Ziply Fiber’s investment is going to work that’s well underway to improve its core and aggregation network, across which all internet traffic travels. While there’s still more work to be done, by improving the quality, capacity, and reliability of those critical network components, customers of all types of services will benefit.
The next several months will be busy ones for the company, as additional fiber build projects will hit key stages where gig-speed fiber internet service can be turned on in fiber build markets throughout the Northwest.
Ziply Fiber’s primary service offerings are Fiber Internet and phone for residential customers, Business Fiber Internet and Ziply Voice services for small businesses, and a variety of internet, networking, and voice solutions for enterprise customers. The company will continue to support DSL and TV customers. A full listing of products and services can be found at get.ziplyfiber.com.
